HAR KI PAURI : It is situated in haridwar in the state of uttarakhand in india . ' Har ' means SHIVA , ' KI ' means OF and' PAURI' means STEPS . It is situated on the bank of ganga at haridwar.
It is believed that in Vedic times lord shiva and lord Vishnu visited here. It is the major landmark in the haridwar and most holiest place for hindus .
It is only the spot where ganga leaves mountains and enters plain . It is also famous because of kumbha Mela which occurs in every 12 years and also for ardh kumbha Mela which occurs in 6 years . Every person from hindu religion visits here once in a life . Every year vaisakhi festival is organised at this place .

GANGA AARTI: This ceremony occur at the haridwar ganga ghat . Thousand of people gather here to offer a prayer .
Sunset priest ( saint ) arrive on the bank and chant slogan . After priest people repeat this slogan and start this ceremony. Other volunteers starts ringing the gong in the temple. People around also joins this aarti and start singing praises.
Saint rotates the bowl which is lighted up and also it has diyas on it which is filled with oil .
Some people float earthen on the stream with flowers which is the symbol of hope .
This aarti is considered as holiest ritual in india in hindi religion.
