Construction work of bansagar dam was started in 1978. Total cost of bansagar dam was around 1054 crores . Dam is the main source of irrigation for states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Dam is surrounded by district named as rewa,katni and satna. On 25 September 2006 bansagar dam is dedicated to nation by former pm atal bihari vajpayee. Initially it was known as dimba project by the central water commission. It is a huge dam with great importance .
